The ensemble LA SOCIEDAD is one of Colombia’s most distinguished chamber groups, with a solid trajectory and sustained activity in the chamber music repertoire.
Founded in 2007, LA SOCIEDAD has developed numerous projects in collaboration with institutions such as the Sala de Conciertos de la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Universidad Autónoma, Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, Trementina Artes, Círculo Colombiano de Compositores, Museo de Arte Religioso de Tenjo, Semana Colombo-Catalana, auditorio Compensar, Casa Ensamble, Sala Otto de Greiff de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, auditorio León de Greiff, and the Biblioteca Nacional, among others.
In Colombia, the ensemble has been invited to perform at the Festival Internacional de Música Clásica del Teatro Mayor, the Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de Popayán, the Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de Cali, the concert series of the Conservatorio del Tolima, Universidad de Antioquia, and the festival CAMARAFEST in Manizales. Beyond their activity in Colombia, they have presented concerts as part of the Virginia Tech University concert series in the United States, at the Festival Internacional de Música Prelúdios, and at the prestigious concert hall Casa do Núcleo in São Paulo, Brazil.
LA SOCIEDAD participated in the recording of the monographic album dedicated to composer Moisès Bertran, produced by the Banco de la República and the Sala de Conciertos de la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango. They also recorded the album Cantos introspectivos, produced by the series Sonidos y Sentidos, featuring their interpretation of Mil cuartos blancos en línea recta by composer James Díaz. Additionally, they recorded the album Cuatro Senderos, with works by composers Roberto Rubio, Horacio Lapidus, Gustavo Parra, and Pedro Ramírez. The ensemble has premiered and performed works by many of Colombia’s most important composers, including Pedro Sarmiento, Ludsen Martinus, José Martínez, Juan Antonio Cuéllar, Diego Vega, Samuel Torres, Carolina Noguera, Juan David Osorio, Sergio Cote, Luis Miguel Delgado, Juan Carlos Britto, and Germán Molano, among others.
The members of the ensemble LA SOCIEDAD are Francisco Iragorri (violin), Mario Sarmiento (percussion), Ana María Romero (clarinet), Rafael Rodríguez (flute), Javier Camacho (piano), and Sara Álvarez (cello).
